Learn To Dive
Total Diver
The PADI Open Water Diver Course is a good entry level first step, but it's not enough. It is designed to introduce you to the core basic skills for scuba diving in shallow water, on relatively easy dive sites. And... The unspoken reality is that when you'll go on a dive trip down South, the divemaster will bring you deep, you might dive at night and... Perhaps you'll want to be able to find the boat all by yourself at the end of the dive. We've setup the "Total DiverTM" training program to get you "totally ready" for your dive holidays.
In the Total DiverTM training program, you'll do a total of at least 11 open water dives under the direct supervision of a professional scuba diving instructor.
You'll get certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (more on this below) and a National Geographic underwater explorer. We believe this to be the strict minimum you need to be able to fully enjoy your dive vacations in a comfortable and safe fashion.
To encourage you and thank you for making a commitment, if you register in the Total DiverTM training program before the end of your pool & theory "Learn to Dive" course, we'll give you a rebate equivalent to having received your open water certification dives for FREE!
Create yourself a profile in Total Diving's Travel & Training Center then go to "Prepaid Packages" and select "Total DiverTM". That's it!
By the way... You can do that (in the little blue box above) even if you've completed your PADI Open Water Diver pool & theory somewhere else! We use one of the best dive sites for scuba diving training in Eastern Canada - and it's located a mere few minutes away from our dive center in NDG, Montreal.
Good point! So... Let's clarify this.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is not "really" an "advanced" course. It is just "extra dive experience under the supervision of a dive professional" so that you get comfortable at diving with a dive buddy. In fact, PADI is now calling this course the "Adventure Program", setting aside the misleading "advanced" word out of the title!
During this adventure program, you'll be doing 5 more dives under the direct supervision of a scuba diving instructor, including: deep diving (not "really" deep, just below 60 feet and up to 100 feet - and we know that during your vacations, the divemaster will be bringing you below 60 feet); underwater navigation (it's always a good idea to find the dive boat at the end of the dive) and night diving (you can't miss diving at night - you can see all kind of things you'll never see during the day).
But above all of that, you'll be "gaining scuba diving experience" under professional supervision before going on your own! We have a 10-dive rule of thumb: you need at least 10 dives before you start feeling comfortable underwater.
The Total DiverTM scuba training program precisely gives you that. In fact, you'll be doing 11 dives with a scuba diving instructor: 4 during your PADI Open Water Diver course, 2 during the National Geographic one-day scuba diving adventure, and 5 during the "adventure program" (PADI Advanced Open Water Diver). 11 dives. 3 c-cards. And you'll go diving! Safely. Comfortably.
We see too many scuba divers, like you, taking decisions like this: "I'll start with the PADI Open Water Diver course and then I'll see if I like it."
The major problem with this approach: there is a fair chance that we'll never see you again! Statistics demonstrate that many scuba divers never dive after their open water certification! We believe it's because you are not, yet, comfortable enough in the water and you do not, yet, feel safe going down there with a dive buddy.
So... Trust us: Put all the chances of enjoyment on your side. Use our expertise. Do it right. And then you'll have a lifetime of underwater fun adventures.
You've been wanting to do this for quite a while, right? So... Do it right!
Good plan! In fact, you could come with us during one of our dive trips and you could get certified with one of our dive instructors during that dive trip. This is like the best of both world: You complete your Total DiverTM training program under the sun, with a Total Diving instructor!
However, if you are planning on going on your own to a dive destination after completing the theory and pool portion of the PADI Open Water Diver course with us in Montreal, what can we do? In that case, you can't take full advantage of the Total DiverTM course package. However, we hope you'll come back to see us, after your dive trip, to share pictures! And... To continue with your National Geographic underwater explorer and PADI Advanced Open Water Diver training.
We believe, for your safety, comfort and enjoyment, that you should complete the Total DiverTM training program before going on that dive trip.
