Rental Dive Gear
Renting Dive Gear: How & What
Scuba diving is much more fun than trying dive gear in the rental department! So... Let's find ways to get the dive gear rental process done as easily as possible, so that we can go diving sooner... OK?
Safety in diving comes from attention to details.
We can do our best to make the process as easy as possible, but.... You need to tell us WHAT you need, for WHEN!
If you're an experienced diver, you should know what equipment you need, what size of BCD and wetsuit you wear, how many cylinders you'll bring with you, etc. In that case, you can simply use our online rental dive gear booking system to tell us.
If you don't know, well... You'll have to stop by the Total Diving dive center in Montreal to try various sizes. Once we know what you need, we'll be able to reserve your rental dive gear.
If you are learning to dive, don't worry about all of that! Your instructor will review what you need and how it works, as part of your learn to scuba dive PADI course with Total Diving in the pool. You will then note your requirements in your log book and you'll know for the next times you'll go diving.
The steps are pretty straight forward. But... We'd like to bring a few points to your attention, in an effort to make it easier for both of us.
If you reserve equipment ahead of time, we will keep it for you. Otherwise, we can't promise we will have what you need!
Also, once we know what you need and when you need it, we will do our best to prepare your gear bag ahead of time - that's a huge time saving!
Simply use our online dive gear rental reservation system to get these benefits.
Bring a copy of your booking confirmation received by eMail. It will speed things up. If you've fully paid ahead of time, it will be even faster!
Bring with you a photo ID and your scuba diver certification card. If you are renting a nitrox cylinder, bring your nitrox diver certification card. If you are renting a dry suit, bring your dry suit diver c-card.
If you are not yet certified but need to rent gear to go diving with your instructor, simply put the name of your instructor or dive school (e.g. "Total Diving course") in the "notes" section when doing your booking.
Before you leave with your rented dive gear, we will ask you to review our "quality and safety checklist" and sign a "rental agreement and liability release".
You are responsible for the dive gear you are renting. There are fees for bringing back damaged rented gear - or for not bringing it back!
We have a rinse station at the back door of the dive center in Montreal to help you remove mud from your rented dive gear, in case you didn't have a chance to do it at the dive site.
We will give you a written confirmation that you are released from your responsibilities for the scuba diving equipment you've rented, once we have reviewed with you the quality and safety checklist, to ensure that you are bringing everything back in proper condition - just like they do at the airport when you bring a rental car back, except that you don't have to fill the cylinders ;)
Having your own scuba diving gear will make your dives totally more comfortable, enjoyable and safe. You have only one life to live! Read more...
