PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification course, including a scuba review session in the pool. Among other things, this program is designed to help you gain more comfort, confidence and safety (and fun) underwater, under the supervision of a professional dive instructor.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is part of the Total Diver training program.
To participate, you must be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent).
You'll have to supply us with a new medical questionnaire, even if you've completed your PADI Open Water Diver course recently. However, you may not have to obtain a new doctor signature. Details, here.
The minimum age for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification is 12 years old. However, for children and teenagers less than 14 years old, please choose the "private certification" option, to ensure proper and safe training for your children.
We'll be spending a fun weekend of diving at the Kahnwake Quarry. Why? Because of many reasons.
You may think that you've already seen the quarry, during your PADI Open Water Diver certification... Right? Wrong!! Trust me! You didn't see anything during that Open Water weekend! You'll discover it now ;)
Otherwise, we want a convenient location to gain confidence and comfort underwater. It's the perfect place for that. We can do everything, including your first deep dive ever.
Then... We think you should complete this training with additional experience in a different environment. We strongly suggest diving in the St. Lawrence River where you'll find water a bit warmer but with current and a lot less visibility.
As per PADI standards, we will be conducting 5 dives with you, over 2 days.
Most of the time, these dives are conducted at the Kahnawake Quarry: the closest dive site to Montreal and one of the best dive sites in Eastern Canada for scuba diving courses. However, sometimes, we need to adapt to traffic, weather and other unpredictable conditions. We will contact you if the dive site is changed at the last minute. Please verify your phone number and eMail address in your My Account.
MONDAY or TUESDAY evening (Total Diving in NDG):
WEDNESDAY (Aquadôme in Ville LaSalle):
SATURDAY (Total Diving & Kahnawake):
SUNDAY (Total Diving & Kahnawake):
Plan on finishing late on both weekend days. It's a full scuba diving weekend!
From the course material you've received during your PADI Open Water Diver course, bring at least:
Then, you need the PADI Adventure in Diving course manual and underwater slate which is included in the price of the course. You need to read the following chapters and do the "knowledge reviews" located at the end of these chapters:
The cost of the PADI certification card is included, as well as the entry fee to the Kahnawake Quarry (if that is where we dive). You can either bring a lunch or purchase food at the convenience store located a few steps from our dock.
If you prefer, you can watch the video and read the course manual online through the PADI eLearning service.
If you are serious about your underwater adventures, we believe you will already, by now, have your own set of dive gear - for comfort, safety and pleasure. Hence why dive gear is not included in any of our Total Diving scuba courses. Talk to us about getting your own set of comfortable and safe scuba diving equipment.
Otherwise, please reserve your rental diving gear using our online rental dive gear reservation system. During your PADI Open Water Diver course, you should have determined the proper size to fit you. If not, you'll need to stop by the Total Diving dive shop, ahead of time, to figure that out and reserve the dive gear you really need.
We do not rent bathing suits, towels, scuba fins, booties, masks & snorkels - since these are personal items that you need to have. You'll use those for more than scuba diving, anyways. You might want to add a "wetsuit" to the list of 'must have' personal items - it's very similar to a bathing suit, if you ask me!
Do not let the word 'advanced' stop you! It's not for 'advanced divers', it's for you to get more experience, beyond the basic entry-level PADI Open Water Diver course.
You'll feel a whole lot more comfortable and safe underwater after completing 5 more dives with your Total Diving scuba instrutor. And you'll have a lot more fun!
Plus... The course itself is a lot of fun! It's all about diving, diving, diving.
