PADI Rec Sidemount Diver Course

PADI Rec Sidemount Diver Course

Availability: In stock

Quick description:

Because you are able to move the cylinder from your back to your side, it instantly takes the pressure off of your back and gives you more flexibility to move and enjoy your dive. Plus, you don’t have to walk to the dive site with the cylinders on your back. You can enter the water and clip them on and go.

For all tech diving courses, please book an appointment with one of our tech diving instructors or tech diving instructor trainers for complete explanations on what is included, what is not included and the pre-requisites. Then, we'll work out a course schedule with you. Tech diving is not for everybody!

Find a new and different way to configure your cylinders with the PADI Sidemount Diver course. Sidemount diving offers:

  • An alternative way to streamline in the water
  • Easier equipment transportation when topside
  • Reduced lower back strain
  • Provides redundant gas supply
  • Ability to monitor all equipment because it’s in front of you
  • Increased gas supply for longer dives

It's a specialty course for certified scuba divers so you need to be at least a certified Open Water diver.

The minimum age is 15 years old.

You'll need a new medical questionnaire, even if you've completed another PADI course with us recently. However, you may not have to obtain a new doctor signature. Details, here.

Course Location, Structure & Agenda

  • 1 Night of theory (usually the monday or tuesday night)
  • 2 Nights in the pool (wednesday night)
  • 3 Open Water dives (usually on a saturday at the quarry)

Of course, you can also request a private course and, then... It's fully up to you! ;)

Course Material

There is no PADI material for the sidemount course.

The cost of the PADI certification card is also included, as well as the entry fee to the Kahnawake Quarry, if that is where we'll be diving. If the diving is somewhere else, each diver covers the dive boat or dive site fees, if any.

Scuba Gear Required

This is the tricky part... The sidemount course has special requirements and is all about personnal configuration. You definitely need your personnal equipment. The good news is that when you will get equiped, we will give you the course for free!

Here is a list of what you will need:

  • Sidemount harness
  • Two (2) kits of regulators

For our courses, we include cylinders and weights if you've purchase the rest of your dive gear from us, or rented it from us. Refills for these cylinders are only included if you do them at a Total Diving fill station.
